Before it was called the New Dance Show it was called ‘The Scene.’ It used to air right after public school ended around 3:00. This gives you an idea of who the show’s main audience probably was. It was filmed at Studio 94 (or was it Studio 95?) on Woodward Ave close to the Detroit Amtrak stop. The same spot was a very popular rave venue.

These are all of the facts I know. I wish I knew more!

I used to watch it a lot when I got home from school. I had no idea what the music was, but liked watching everyone dance. Now I see the show most likely played a large role in my current musical preferences. ;)

I have been checking out clips of the "New Dance Show" that aired on Detroit TV in the early 90s. Does anyone have more info about this show? How long it ran for and who was selecting the music for this show?... it's incredible!
