Movement 2007 hits ... * BMG Godfather Plaslaiko at Canniball, 80s booty acid goodness gracious -- did my eyes deceive me, Dan Sicko was dancing :) * Paxahau got the sound so right at the festival -- a true accomplishment * fully functional People Mover * Model 500 playing Game One Sunday Church Service * sticker on the wall at S.I.D: Jit Happens * Delano Smith, the man is a treasure * Friday fireworks at Comerica Park * Newcastle ale for $3.50 at McCarthy's * Booka Shade revs it up * Abdul Haqq * Acperience->Circus Bells * eating chocolate macaroons from the Astoria Bakery while waiting outside the Transmat office * Jungle Voodoo Ray (single best live track at the festival I think) * Watching the steppers while "Gonna Have a Funky Good Time" plays on the sound system ... a roller rink with bass bins, what a concept :) * Aux! RNG!! * the kid with candy raver attire and Juggalo face paint * Zana Smith, still connected and still has a hot car (check Metro Times for reference) * Brian Gillespie playing Blow Your House Down at the Works ... unfortunately it's still standing * DDOT driver wildcat strike on Wednesday -- caused inconvenience but got the City Council off its butt (DDOT = Detroit Digs Our Tigers according to the bus destination signs :) * hearing the morning bird choir outside the house party at Juan's crib * Techno Rebels in the glass display case at the Submerge Museum
and a few misses ... * carnival scrip * early stage closing (I'd rather the whole festival went from 2 pm to 12 midnight) * wack a%% Woodward clubs, Good Life wins the big award for shutting down at 2 am Monday night * CD mixing, yeah I understand the attraction if you're a travelling DJ, but watching people flip through CD albums and put discs in sliding drawers is boring * Campus Martius, what a way to douse the center of a great city with corporate dullness * Paxahau scheduling: good blend of talent with below-par scheduling, especially Sunday * no Camillian Cafe (snif) * $20+ after parties, no excuses * still no second life for Tiger Stadium * working during festival time (my own fault, I know) * still no grocery stores within the city limits of Detroit * seen on the Woodward bus detour on Cass - an old burnt out building with a small sign, "Coming Soon! Luxury Condominiums!" this in the same city that is turning off water service to poor people and closing 30% of the schools but those don't erase the great parts, and this is what happened as I left tha D after another eventful festival . . . * heard on the radio in the lobby of the Comfort Inn before leaving for the airport: My Eyes Don't Cry
