Just got back yesterday. Damn, that was a fun weekend. Too much to write about here when jetlagged, but some brief highlights:

- the pre-party at the Works on Friday night, esp. Brian Gillespie & Aaron Carl. Seemed like just about everyone I ever met from Detroit was there. - Malik someone's (?) live band when we arrived at the festival on Saturday. Shame there were only about 20 people listening to it at the main stage, but the music was very sweet.. - the Detroit stage on Sat, especially Shake & Scan 7. Octave One were also on top form.
- Blake and Claude on sunday
- Model 500 on Sunday - shame the sound was so awful on the main stage, but the music was still awesome. so good to hear those tracks played live. - Sunday night - started with Fabrice at buzz bar, then on to Claude Young at Esko, then ended up at Juan's flat for a tiny Metroplex party in his basement. best night of the weekend by far - the booty stage on Monday afternoon. more bass than anyone should be expected to deal with :-) - 3 chairs, especially Theo. he absolutely killed it, best I've seen him play.. possibly the best set of the weekend. still doing lots of EQing, but it sounded much less harsh than when he does it at Plastic People... - Stacey Pullen. After setting my expectations very low indeed after the last sets I've heard him play, he pulled out a proper housey techno bassline-a-thon that kept us all moving despite being at the end of the 4th day of partying. - being saved by James Pennington from the wreckage of the UR party that never was at Good Life to end up in a wicked after-afterparty at Fracture (or something similar?) out by the old tiger stadium. One last chance to get far too drunk before reality finally kicked back in... - meeting many people in the flesh for the first time - shouts to list members James and the SF crew, Tom Cox, Melody, Fred and esp. Greg for showing us around the city and getting us to all the good parties!
- many obscene breakfasts at the Clique
- spending far too much at Submerge & Record Time
- most of all, just being in Detroit for a week. a truly special city with so many wonderful people... not exactly somewhere you'd describe as beautiful, but it definitely gets under your skin. can't wait to return someday soon...

Sure there was plenty more that'll come back to me, but that's all i can think of for now...
