I just gave "Alright on Top" a spin and I find it to be a perfectly
acceptable technopop record. It's not the record I would expect from Slater
- even not the technopop record I might expect from him, were I to expect
one - but nevertheless I think it's a fun record and fits comfortably
within the genre. Maybe it is Luke looking for a few bucks, but I won't
fault him for that. Indeed, I think it is a GOOD technopop record. The
vocals sometimes remind me of Ray Davies...? It has some of Luke's
signature drive under the candy coating and, well, a LOT of technopop is
about the candycoating.
