has the details

usual fantastic reporting from wired.

http://www.finalscratch.com/

normal final scratch comes with the little box and the two records and some software. proFS comes with a 700mhz p3 vaio laptop running beos (which is what final scratch runs under) and windows dualboot, finalscratch software, the finalscratch usb dongle soundbox thing, the two special records, two slipmats, a carrying case, support, cables, and costs $2,999 (including the laptop). all this information is from finalscratch.com, mind you... two clicks from the frontpage.

i think i also remember seeing on their site somewhere that they hope to sell the normal final scratch (software, two records, and the little usb dongle soundbox) for something around $500. last i heard, they were having trouble porting the software from BeOS to windows/mac, and that a large part of that price was the Be, Inc. licensing fee.

investigative reporting at it's finest,
