HAWTIN VS VILLALOBOS: MINIMAL'S KINGPINS TAKEOVER LONDON (London, UK) - On Saturday 29 September, not one but two of techno's brightest stars will be plying their wicked trade in London's best clubs. Yes, with Minus boss Richie Hawtin hosting a label night at The End while Ricardo Villalobos is top of the bill over at Fabric, it looks like London is going to be the scene of a very interesting showdown indeed. Over at The End, Richie Hawtin and his Minus mob are playing as a part of the Beatport presents: Minus event, which also includes appearances from Marc Houle (who'll be playing live) and Troy Pierce on DJ duties too. The recent Bank Holiday Lost party featuring the Minus crew was apparently one of the best parties of the 'summer' London has just endured, so those who weren't able to make it now have a second chance to witness the minimal maestro Hawtin and his crew in action. Lest we forget, Minus was set up by Hawtin to be an outlet for the new, more minimal direction his work was taking in 1998 - way before the current vogue for the sparser, stripped-down techno that is now all over clubland. Meanwhile in Fabric's Room One, there's the mercurial Mr Villalobos, alongside Bruno Pronsato, who's playing a live set, and Jamie Jones, the East End's own minimal maestro - whose tracks Panama City and Panic have been absolutely essential so far this year. Robert Hood is also playing at the club (in Room Two, alongside Slam playing a live set), so the Farringdon club has its down techno legend in the house as well. This could be the biggest weekend that London's techno community has seen in a long time. And it seems the question is...where will you be on the night
Regards, Martijn
