Indeed and to a certain extent the future has arrived in terms of technology and some forms of communication.

I don't think it has, we still know very little, even about ourselves. Our future arrived like a real life whore, not the ones featuring in Hollywood movies - it's hard not to be so disappointed.

Yeah. I qualified my statement for that reason.

I mean, where's my hoverbike? :)

However I enjoy thinking about using technology to do new things (it's what I do for a living). Most new ideas are complete failures, and are sometimes laughable when you look back, others are not so laughable and change society.

Technology is brilliant but it makes us lazy, just look at the comments on Youtube - part of me believes that this is the future of the "net" - how's it changed from the BBS days but even back them you could see what was coming.

It has been very interesting waching the pace of evolution of the internet and www over the last decade. We're moving to aways on, broadband access on handhelds now. The way we communicate with each other is about to change again.

I like applying that approach to music sometimes.

I agree but these days it mostly gets in the way, with midi you could find a problem, with plug-ins it could take you weeks.

I guess that's true too. In terms of pure performance of this stuff I'd say we've made moves in a positive direction. There's a huge distance to go before we're at a stage where the traditional forms are obsolete though.

Anyway, I'm aware of how off-topic I've veered so I'll shut up.

It's as techno as anything else we talk about.

Which is why I've replied.
