In fact although I buy probably, on average, 4 records a week, meaning I bought about 200 this year, these are the only ones I actually remember.

This pretty much sums up why I gave up on record buying.

I remember being at the festival a few years ago and going to
Record Time. I just grabbed anything that looked good as I
went, and by the time it got to be time to go, I had this
ridiculously huge pile of stuff I'd never find out here. So
I did a quick mental calculation - rounded off everything to
the nearest multiple of $5 for easy figuring.

I ended up at well over $2000. :-O

After another hour of pruning back, I got it down to $280.

I got out to the parking lot, put the records in the car
and had an epiphany - "Wow. You just spent a plane ticket
somewhere on records that you'll be bored with or forget
you even have in a month. What the f&ck are you doing?!?"

I doubt I've even spent $280 combined in record stores
since. There's just too much good, free music out there,
especially in mixes form (and quite a bit of it submitted
by several of you good folks here on 313, for which I
humbly thank you all) to spend any more plane tickets.

<*Waits for the "You're part of the problem" bashing
  from all the (313) label owners*> ;)
