i recently read this book http://www.amazon.com/This-Your-Brain-Music-Obsession/dp/0525949690 and enjoyed it quite a bit, but ideally i'm looking for something that's a bit less rock and a bit more techno.
can anybody recommend any contemporary (21st century) academic-level critical writing and/or research on electronic music (or music in general) that is worth reading? as an example, i've been meaning to read this piece that martin posted a few months ago: http://folk.uio.no/hanst/Manchester/ChicagoHouse.htm not as interested in the cultural or historical aspects either (ala love saves the day and last night a dj saved my life, both of which i've read), but feel free to share if something is extraordinary. please no commentary from those who think music can't/shouldn't be discussed scientifically. :) -- peace, frank dj mix archive: http://www.deejaycountzero.com
