I've been meaning for ages to do a "stuff I got recently" mail and now what better time to get round to it than when everyone's at the festival or sulking 'cos they aren't (me, I'm having a lovely holiday weekend in the Manchester sunshine) so there's no one here to read it?
313 or vaguely related: B12 : Last Days of Silence LP : B12 - oh yes my son Move D : Drone : Modern Love - nice deep restrained stuff Redshape : plonk : Shapedworld - had a debate buying this "it sounds ace but doesn't do anything", "OK it will sound good on a big system but how often do I get to play on a big system" etc, glad I bought it in the end (after all that I played on a big system last weekend but didn't play it) Henrik Schwarz & Amamp Ondo: I Exist Because Of You : Innervisions - total club tune bomb Viewpoints comp : AW - well covered on here already but I add my recommendation, nice range of quality artists on Arne's label Fourtet : Ringer : Domino - snap on the already covered and recommend, proper techno off the blueprint Force Of Nature remixed : Mule Music - liking the Still Going remix on here, on that "Emperor Machine" tip (but better) Amp Fiddler : Stay Or Move On (Alton Miller remix) : Detroit Wax - not big on either Amp or Alton usually as a little smooth and lacking spark for me (no flaming please, just my own taste) but feeling this one BIG TIME G Man : Texture Series 02 : Persistencebit - saw this in Hardwax recently and bought it, have no idea how old it is but it's a nice Gez Varley piece non-313 Zero dB : Heavyweight Gringos : Ninja Tune - for lovely downbeat Tony Nwachukwu remix of vocal tune Sunshine Lazy Urban Soul : Alright (Kaytronik Movementz part 1) : Juno - might sound a bit odd on the face of it, Juno rerelease this old tune with remixes as one of ten tenth anniversary records but while the a side is a waste of time (for me anyway) the Karizma remix on the b is ace, not a remix really, more like original work, game of 2 halves where the Alright is grafted on to some minimal piano thing K's done which it goes off into and just gets better Erykah Badu : New Amerykah part one (4th World war) : Motown - nuff said Kissey Asplund : Move Me : Breakin' Music - beautiful summer soul 7" from new Nordic songstress Krack & Smaak feat. Ben Westbeech : Squeeze me : Jalpeno - in fashion contributors come together to make nice funk tune Faze Acvtion : Spark : Faze action - nice return to form, electronic disco style
