For one reason or another the Eevolute label has not achieved the prominence of other labels in the last 15 years or so. Partially I think it's because Stefan and the other artists involved didn't tailor their music to Euro Club Culture the same way that a lot of other people have. There are some very specific things that one has to do to be part of that clique, and they didn't do that. The focus has been on making great music in their own personal styles. They've always found an audience, just not the big rah rah drugged up kids audience.
I have been promising Stefan an all-Eevolute mix since last winter, and not come through, partly because in buying everything I could find on the label has overwhelmed me. One thing that jumped out at me was the bidirectional influence between Carl Craig and the Eevolute crew early on. The early Planet E releases -- the Petri Dish compilation in particular not only featured some of Stefan's music, but also the tracks Carl Craig put on it sound pretty Eevolute as well.
