place their sound within the electro revival that was going on around the
same time

 added asterisks mine - it's this bit that leads me to think the 1996 date
isn't really when the tunes were recorded
seems like a hint that they are aligning themselves with the mid 90s
electro revival that brought us great records from Drexciya, Aux 88, 430
West/Direct Beat, Clear, Evolution, etc.
Even remaining faceless harkens back to those years.  I like it!
