ANG MAHAL NA LIBRE

Not everything that counts can be counted.
Not everything that can be counted counts.
- Charles Garfield
So how does one realize the value of something?
To realize the value of ten years: Ask a newly divorced couple.
To realize the value of four years: Ask a graduate.
To realize the value of one year: Ask a student who has failed a final
exam.
To realize the value of nine months: Ask a mother who gave birth to a still
born.
To realize the value of one month: Ask a mother who has given birth to a
premature baby.
To realize the value of one week: Ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize the value of one hour: Ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realize the value of one minute: Ask a person who has missed the train,
bus or plane.
To realize the value of one second: Ask a person who has survived an
accident.
To realize the value of one millisecond: Ask the person who has won a
silver medal in the Olympics.
Notice all these statements start with the phrase, "To realize the value"
emphasis on the real-ize implying the value is already there and that
we are just real-izing it or that we are making it real to us.
nasabi
noong sila ay buhay pa. Kailangan nga bang hintayin?
Hindi corny ang magsabi ng I love you sa magulang. It would be more tragic
to say these 3 precious words to a corpse who cannot embrace you back.
puso
at nagdadagdag ka ng buhay, your words can become life-enriching!
Value, most of the time, is what we attach to something. Usually, it is
not
intrinsic. Look at the classic example of water and diamond in economics.
How come diamonds are more expensive than water? Which can you survive
without?
bakit
mas mahal ang diamante?
Scarcity solves the problem.
No wonder, God's love that is so abundant becomes less valuable to some
people. Kasi andiyan lang. Kasi nag-uumapaw naman. Kasi hindi kailangang
pag-agawan. Kasi libre lang.
This is where we invoke the intrinsic value.
Can diamonds bring you peace? Can diamonds bring you to heaven? Can
diamonds save you from your sins? Well, God's love can. And it can do
much
much more.
Blaise Pascal said that the greatest single distinguishing feature of=20
the omnipotence of God is that our imagination gets lost when thinking
about it.
One time, a professor was trying to test a boy and asked him, "Tell me
good boy, where God is and I will give you an apple". The boy quickly
looked
up at the man and replied, "I will give you a whole barrel of apples if you
tell me where he is not."
C.S. Lewis said "When I love God more than I love my earthly dearest,
then I shall love my earthly dearest more than I do now."
Remember, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. And
all these things shall be added unto you."
Nakuha mo ba?
