The purpose of this e-mail is to advice your group on the reconstruction of the Alabang viaduct along SLEX in Muntinlupa City which may begin by August or September 2005 and take between 10-12 months to finish.
The following is the traffic management plan during the reconstruction:
- Half of the viaduct will be closed and reconstructed at a time. The southbound direction of the viaduct will be closed and reconstructed first for about 5-6 months and then followed by the closure and reconstruction of the northbound direction for
another 5-6 months. The area of the roadway underneath the viaduct below the half that is being reconstructed will also be closed, i.e., northbound direction first and then southbound next.- Northbound traffic will be able to use the viaduct. The northbound traffic direction of SLEX will be allowed to use the viaduct throughout the construction period, alternating between the halves of the viaduct as reconstruction is ongoing and completed on each side.
- Southbound traffic will be diverted through Filinvest Corporate City (FCC). The southbound direction of SLEX will exit before reaching the viaduct, pass through FCC and re-enter SLEX at the Filinvest interchange area at ground level.
During this reconstruction, it is likely that northbound (work-bound) traffic conditions will remain tolerable but southbound (home-bound) traffic conditions will become congested with travel time increasing by 1-2 hours, more so during rainy and Christmas holiday seasons.
While the contract for the reconstruction has been awarded, changes and delays to the construction schedule may still occur which we will monitor and advice upon as needed.
