MS sent me an email saying:

"The best place to ask this question is the Excel area of answers.microsoft.com 
<http://answers.microsoft.com/>, which I know you've done already. We monitor 
that forum and we've got the right folks over there who can help with questions 
like this, so I'm going to go ahead and remove this idea from UserVoice (since 
we're trying to keep the UserVoice site for new product ideas)."

So they’ve deleted the suggestion that they get MS Excel to accept data from MS 
Query. Anyway, spent 2 hours on phone with tech support to no avail this 
morning. The guy even connected to my machine with LogMeIn Rescue to see the 
problem. But he hadn’t even heard of Microsoft Query, and even thought it must 
be a third party product, despite the name!
