I suppose you're talking about the cache. There is no "best settings" but "settings
for each situation" and it's not easy to evaluate. For my own:
- uncheck adaptative.
- set writing frequency ~20 seconds.
- cache size depends on 32 or 64 bits 4D server, ~1500 and 3000 respectively.
