If you like to hang on the old behavior, Keisuke has written a component for 
that purpose.

Haven't tested myself, though.

In my projects I usually create a limited more user friendly query window to 
allow normal users perform the most used queries. I do add a button to open the 
query editor. This is for power users, I guess they can handle the new editor.
