We ran into the v13 / MacBook Pro with touchbar crashing issue in Sierra 10.12.1 and 10.12.2. The fix was maddeningly simple - instead of attempting to connect to a remote database if you first choose to open a local database, then cancel the file open window displayed in Finder you will be able to open remote databases without crashing.
