Chip,
If the Mac is one of the touch-bar models it won't work. v13 may start up
on those machines but it won't run. So if it's an older Mac that's been
updated to Sierra others report v13 will run. The firewall is more robust,
though. Since you're getting the can't connect to the db error I'd start
looking at that sort of thing.
