that is what I found out...
however there are a number of other apps which do - I suspect that the contents 
of a package are scanned by spotlight, but that there are filters in place to 
stop spotlight from returning those results.

I say this because DLing one of the apps that allows package content searching 
took <1 sec to show all (at least I think all) .xlf files inside packages (not 
just 4D's)
