Just a wild guess. Could you try without the "*"? Use an empty string or even 
remove the second parameter (it is optional).
$tDocRef:=Open document($DocPath_t;Read mode)

Are you building with the same desktop volume version?
Have you tried compiled against 4D developer (without building stand alone)
