From everything that I remember, the .4DD file is where the marker was stored. 
If it was put in another file somewhere else on the hard drive it could get 
lost or not stay connected to the .4DD file if you moved it around to a 
different machine or location. 

I also seem to remember that Paul Carnine — remember him and his DataCheck 
program — had reverse engineered the location of this flag in the header area 
of the .4DD. DataCheck had an option to just clear this flag.

That indicates serious damage to the data file. Record allocation tables ore 
bitmaps are damaged. Time to recover by tags.

The structure file is actually a special 4D data file used to store all the 
methods, forms, menu bars, etc. So it can also fall prey to crashing and the 
cache not finishing flushing. I’ve had this happen to me once in the past.

I can’t confirm anything this low level. That’s a Miyako or JPR low level 
detailed information. I can only relate what I’ve heard or learned over the 
years.
