Well Spencer, over 14 years after you posted this suggestion, it saved me! Automatic overnight upload of my datafile to Amazon S3. Restored it to my Backup server and got the error about the database or one of its segments being locked. In Terminal, ran: sudo chown -R myusername:admin /path/to/my/datafile And all was good after that!
