It depends of what your needs are.

The very basic is a tab delimited txt file or an csv file which you can 
open/import in Excel. No formatting.

Second option is to create a text file containing a html formatted table using 
<table> <tr> <td> tags. Formatting possible using css. Can be easily imported 
in Excel too.

Third possibility is to use 4D View Pro, which has an export to Excel. 4D 
native, but license required.<tr

Or you can choose from one of the plugins which allow to create native Excel 
files.
