Yes, you will find the distro is ready set-up for our Hardy backports repository. This is different from the old repository for Etch packages, of course. By default, the 3.0 betas will pop-up a window when there are package updates available, if the package list has been refreshed (e.g. with apt-get update or Synaptic). If you don't refresh the package list then you won't get prompted, which I personally prefer. I don't like computers which take the initiative to do things by themselves, I like them to wait for commands from the user.
