I have forgotten to check GDM.

The Konqueror file browser isn't fine any more :(.

I'll check if there are the kernels in /boot and I'll check the menu.lst
using Yakuake instead of the Konqueror.

Synaptic is wrong. The non-multimedia-kernel has not been upgraded:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/boot$ ls
config-2.6.18-6-amd64
initrd.img-2.6.21-1-multimedia-amd64 System.map-2.6.18-6-amd64
config-2.6.21-1-multimedia-amd64
initrd.img-2.6.21-1-multimedia-amd64.bak
System.map-2.6.21-1-multimedia-amd64
grub
memtest86.bin vmlinuz-2.6.18-6-amd64
initrd.img-2.6.18-6-amd64
memtest86+.bin vmlinuz-2.6.21-1-multimedia-a

The menu.lst is fine for both kernels.

Sorry, I've been wrong. Synaptic says the "normal" kernel is the version
that is in /grub and multimedia is a module for the newer kernel.

I'll shutdown and boot, instead of a reboot now.

Cheers,
Ralf
