Using Synaptic , you could try to install that library :

This package had to be removed to install libesd-alsa0
When I checked libesd0 for removal, I had to remove 64studio and a whole
bunch of other packages.
I was lucky , when I just installed libesd-alsa0 and clicked ok to remove
libesd0, no other packages had to be removed :)
intelligent system ... :) and fascinating :p

yes indeed, now the only remaining "not working thing" is that i don't hear
the system sounds,  not even after installing the gnome-audio package
