Hello all,

You could try reconfiguring console-setup program. 

dpkg-reconfigure console setup

Make sure to have /boot mounted when you run this (if it is not regularly); the 
program reconfigures initramfs so you'll have your settings at boot. As far as 
I know this won't change your X settings.

sorry for answering to myself, but the two mails i got from you are on 
the another machine now. anyway, 'alacarte' was exactly the tool i was
