No. Asymmetric encryption has too much overhead to make this worthwhile. > there a key one can use to have access if he needs to use a rescue > system? Is it fast enough for audio work? It's not interesting for me, All I need to know is the password I choose when installing Ubuntu. It is fast enough for the work I do. I also use either an OCZ SSD or a 7200 RPM drive in a really fast laptop, so I do not perceive any noticeable performance degradation. YMMV. > but I guess it's interesting for people raveling with laptops. Hm, maybe I use this on my laptop. > I should try to use such an encryption for my USB stick, to learn about > it, even if I don't need it at the moment. I usually use truecrypt for removable media since it is cross platform. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAkmu+uUACgkQwRXgH3rKGfOPaACfcqzQ125LrghMMzZji7Wf/nDv PsMAn33IzHlu/9p3X2AJC/1AbDEjQtJh =qURY -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ 64studio-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.64studio.com/mailman/listinfo/64studio-users
