No.  Asymmetric encryption has too much overhead to make this worthwhile.

All I need to know is the password I choose when installing Ubuntu.  It
is fast enough for the work I do.  I also use either an OCZ SSD or a
7200 RPM drive in a really fast laptop, so I do not perceive any
noticeable performance degradation.  YMMV.
