HI This is the output: p xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd - X.Org X server -- AMD/ATI r5xx, r6xx display driver p xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd-dbg - X.Org X server -- AMD/ATI r5xx, r6xx display driver
Thing is I had Ubuntu 8.04 on this machine a few moths ago and it seemed fine. I now have 1280x1050 after I rebooted which is usable. I was under the impression that when you logout xorg.conf was read when loging back in, maybe not. Thanks for the help Cheers Bob 2009/3/8 Gustin Johnson <[email protected]> > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > Frank Smith wrote: > > HI Gustin > > I'm now stuck on 800x 600 which make the pc nearly unsuable. > > > > I seem to be getting errors from synaptic re kernel rt not configured > > and such. > > I never realised ATI was such a pain for Linux as my other Zenwalk > > system works well with the same hardware on another drive. > > > > I have a radeon HD 3450 which is a cheaper card far as I know. > > > Fortunately this device should be supported by the radeonhd driver. > What this means is that in the future this card should be supported out > of the box like Intel is now.
