Hi :)

does anybody know a non-limited application for Linux, similar to Eagle
(http://www.cadsoftusa.com/freeware.htm)?

I guess I can search for Linux applications that might be similar to
Eagle, but maybe someone out there knows which application is good.

Maybe there's the need to use more than one application, to get a
satisfying equivalent to the non-free version of Eagle.

The limited freeware version of Eagle is in the 64 Studio 2.1
repositories, resp. I guess it's from the Debian Etch repository.

A simulation that's working fine is needed, see
http://www.cadsoftusa.com/info.htm.

The "electrical rule check" must be safe and to "create a board from a
schematic with a single command" should work good (for multilayer
boards), at least for AF, HF radio frequency might be not so much
important, resp. it can become important too, because of the high
frequencies of computers. Just now I don't know enough about audio
circuits for computers. Microchip vendors will give evaluation-boards
(for free) only to bad companies that aren't interested in social
aspects, e.g. I know that Brauner gets an evaluation-board from Crystal
and when I was employee of Brauner, I wasn't allowed to do experiments
with this board. I guess freethinkers working in any company won't get
access to such equipment and I also guess that this is the cause, that
there is so much hardware, that isn't compatible to Linux.

At the moment I don't have the time and knowledge to develop hardware
that's fine with Linux, but it would be good to have the right software
now. There might be some time in the future, resp. it's useful to know
some software I can recommend to friends, that might have time and
knowledge.

It's not something that for me is really actual now, but looking back to
the past, projects often failed because to much time get lost by
searching for stuff like software and to be honest, for other
requirements too.

Cheers,
Ralf
