I have compiled an AMD64 2.6.29-rt8 kernel with the original firewire 
stack included.

deb http://apt.harleystudio.co.za/ hardy main

You might need to uninstall the alsa-firmware package to install this 
new temporary kernel.

Feedback appreciated.  NB: Do not remove your old kernel as a backup. 
This is a testing kernel.
