Hi :) I'm sorry if I report known points. Since 2009/03/26, until today, I didn't retrieve emails and today I got around 1500 emails. I also didn't watch the complete 3.0 beta threads before. I'll sort, read and reply the old mails, fetched today, as soon as possible.
I'm running 3.0 beta now. Excepted of an test for Thunderbird folders and an additional installed KDE 4, it's an upgraded, but clean 3.0-beta3 install, without enabling an root account or similar manipulations. All reported disagreeablenesses appeared before I experimented with Thunderbird or KDE 4 was installed. 1. A not serious disagreeableness: Instead of the installed Firefox and Thunderbird, the Ice-Versions were set as preferred applications by default. 2. A very serious disagreeableness: To get connected to the Internet I have to disable networking, to enable a point to point connection and then to enable the networking again, after each startup. I only know how to do that for GNOME. At each startup the PPPoE connection for any DE is done automatically for 64 Studio 2.1, Suse 11.0 and 11.1. I was able to set this without reading any howto for those Linux. It would be better, if it becomes easy for the Ubuntu based 64 Studio too. 3. Setting X without reading any howto is a pain for the Ubuntu based 64 Studio (and maybe it won't change, if I'll read any howto). It's easy to change the resolution by GNOME and KDE applications. Doing that, the frequencies for GDM are different to the frequencies for GNOME or KDE 4 sessions and there is no way to change the frequencies, if someone isn't fine with a vertical refresh rate around 60 Hz. 4. Very seldom there are image interferences. X needs to be restarted for several times, or reboots are required, if there are image interferences. This never happens while running 64 Studio 2.1, Suse 11.0 or 11.1. 5. Because of missing dependencies, it's impossible to install the linux-headers-2.6.29-1-multimedia-amd64 package. The headers seems to be needed, to install the proprietary ATI fglrx driver. I didn't use 3.0 beta a lot. Firefox is fine ;). I like the selection of default graphic and animation applications, but didn't run any of them with 3.0 beta. Cheers, Ralf _______________________________________________ 64studio-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.64studio.com/mailman/listinfo/64studio-users
