Yup Gnash is still not a 100% compatible and is not a drop in replacement.

It seems that either you downloaded the wrong installer or Adobe does
not support x86_64 on Linux.  Either way Adobe is who you need to talk to.

You will have better luck with VST and other proprietary crap if you
stick with the i386 version.  I tend to have as much RAM as I can afford
so x86 is no longer an option for me (my laptop has 4 GiB, so i386 is
pointless).  I also do not use VST so this is no great loss.
