By random I thought about Brian Setzer. While Brian Setzer's masterings 
are very modern, the original old school Rock'n'Swing music is mastered 
different to his sound. Mastering is a matter of taste and that's why I 
guess my objection was/is improper, but on the other hand, I'm with 
conviction, that just reading a/one book isn't a good idea too. Please 
ignore my annotations. Mastering is similar to different world views, a 
very complex issue.

I'll correct my first note. Reading Katz's book might be a very good 
idea and in addition alternative mastering techniques should be 
recognized too.

To do the mastering is the hell of musical "conservation", it's always 
bad from the view of the engineer who did the mastering, even if 
listeners won't notice any bad quality.
