Hi! I posted about a half year ago to find people confirming an issue about Dual-Core instabilities with the realtime-linux kernel. Now, I'm happy to tell you, that there was nothing wrong with the kernel or with 64studio - it seems that my motherboard was broken or simply unable to do realtime things with a dual-core CPU. I guess, I'll use the "ASUS A8V Deluxe" with the VIA-VT8237-Chipset for some games, sell it, or give it away to some friends, now. Although it was not at all a real cheap mobo, it doesn't seem to be comparable to what I've got, now:
I have bought a brand new Tyan Tomcat K8E S2865G2NR from the german Ebay: What a difference!!! The system runs smooth with the same Dual-Core-CPU, the same DRAM-Modules, same PSU, same Harddisks- great! I've got a real workstation, at last! (Not just a "PC"!) Sorry for the advertisement, but just in case, you're fed up with your old board and want to "upgrade" to a workstation, too: The seller has got 20 boards left! And the best is: They only cost 60 €! You may say: Hey, there must be something wrong with this board. You're right: It's just the board, there is no accessories like cables, manual or a original packaging. You won't even get an I/O-shield or a Heatsink Retention Frame - it's the bare board! But it's working and it's brand new: http://cgi.ebay.de/Tyan-Tomcat-K8E_W0QQitemZ260490186139QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDE_Elektronik_Computer_Mainboards?hash=item3ca66ccd9b&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 Greetings!
