Hi Zachary,

> is there ever going to be a future release of 64Studio?

Yes! The distro landscape has changed quite a lot since we started in
2005 - there are now several good audio and multimedia distros available
for download, and some of these have amd64 versions available. This
means we have to think carefully about the niche for our own distro to
live in.

We are different from the other distros because we work on commercial
projects, and we aim that our work is commercially self-supporting, for
long-term sustainability. We will continue to make free downloads
available, whenever we can align these with our customer products.

To give you an example of why that's proved to be necessary, the
developer of AV Linux reported that the project's 3.0 ISO was downloaded
over 18,000 times, and their appeal for donations resulted in... 3
donations. I'd say that rate of donations is typical for any specialist
distro, based on my own experience. Maintaining a distro and packaging
can easily become a full time job, and that's difficult to sustain for
more than a year or two without funding.

> I haven't seen any updates on the distro since 3.0beta3.

That's correct for the download distro, although we have made plenty of
releases on behalf of our customers since then, and there have been lots
of new packages in our backports repositories. I'm hoping we'll be able
to announce a new download soon, on the road to our 4.0 release series
later this year (after the release of Ubuntu Lucid LTS).

Cheers!

Daniel
