One problem we have in 6LoWPAN networks is that the 6LoWPAN fragmentation is "transparent", i.e. there is no equivalent of Path MTU discovery that would enable applications to make informed decisions about the packet sizes they choose. Since that problem is not specific to 6LoWPAN, and not even to IPv6, it is being discussed in the intarea working group. (The specific proposal is currently focused on IPv6, however.)
