-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 You might want to check if the filename it's referencing is merely a soft link to a more specific version, i.e., /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/libstdc++.so.6 -> libstdc++.so.6.0.3 (at least that's how it is on my system) Point being: changing the permissions on a soft link won't change the permissions on the target. Every time I do certain emerges, I have to "chmod +x" several of the scripts in /etc/init.d for some reason. The permissions for net.eth0 are left unchanged (777), but because it is only a soft link to net.lo it still won't run because the permissions for net.lo got hosed by the update. This becomes quite annoying at times. Check this out, too: http://tonyandrewmeyer.wordpress.com/2005/12/13/finding-libstdcso6/ Brian Friday wrote: | | revdep-rebuild can be used it will tell you what things you might | need to rebuild. it is part of the gentoolkit package. | | | On Jan 31, 2006, at 10:20 AM, Diehl, William wrote: | |> Yeah, ouch.
