I maintain my own IMAP server, on my DSL, and I access that from 5 or 6 different machines that all have Thunderbird installed. All Thunderbird installations see the same folders.
As far as filtering, I don't do much, and what I'd do, I'd do server-side, not in the client, so I don't know how to sync those settings in Thunderbird. Roger E.
