I read the same stuff, and I think it is a GREAT solution!

you DON'T send your laptop, just the battery.  Many people have a spare.

And you're snip on faq 7 fails to show how easy it is to get around the issue, and they describe how to do it. It's a minor annoyance for the amount of money saved over buying a new battery.
