Within the last month or so, everyone and their mother has put up wireless in my apt complex. I was on channel 6, had problems, used OS X iStumbler (http://www.istumbler.net/) to see the channels other were on and change from 6 to 11.
For a while now, no one was on 11, and now several more networks cropped up, so I changed to channel 1 (where I'm cool for now). If I have to worry about this in the long term, I'm tempted to get an 802.11a card/router. I hear that the next 802.11n (real n, not "draft-N" or "pre-N" bullcrap) has wireless switching and is supposed to take care of some of these collision issues. How do you guys deal with this? Any open source tools that help you "see" collision statistics in real time?
