nhoeot. (never heard of either of them) But maybe I should have. Should I need something like this in a hosting enviornment? We build all servers to the same spec, but later the configuration may change for each server individually. The only time this has been a problem is (for example) when we have a system crash, and have to rebuild from bare metal (doesn't happen often, less than once a year), we can restore the users and what they've installed, but we don't know what (for example) extra perl or php modules may have been installed. Is there some way either of these will simplify it for us? Or will it become even more complex <smile>? For those who, like me, couldn't figure out how to search google for puppet, I finally managed with these terms: puppet system configuration Thanks for any possible advice.
