I would suggest dtrace when troubleshooting a problem like this in Solaris.
Linux users are always reminded by Sun users that they don't have dtrace.
It is a great tool though.

On a related note, does anyone have any experience using SystemTap or
OProfile in Linux to see bottlenecks of a running program/process?
