i'm not quite sure i follow what you are doing, but the screen file has the dimentions of the entire screen. so i think you have all the information you require. it wouldn't be hard to clone window and replace it with your special window creator that does a bit of layout calculation to your specifications and then emits standard window commands which could be piped to rc. - erik
