the downside of course is that the set of suitable protocols
is then greatly reduced.  tftp, rudp, il, cec to name a few simple
protocols (yes i've done 9p over cec) would then be unusable
for 9p.  and the minimum requirements for participating in
a 9p converstation would be increased.  maybe that's okay,
but it's hard to give that up.

one thing that 9p doesn't address (that aoe does) is the maximum
number of outstanding messages.  that can be a fairly effective
means of flow control.
