no, but there is no device file created, and there is no
ether process started by usbd. but unfortunately, it's
not possible to start usb/serial by hand.

winterville# usb/usbd
usb/ether... usb/usbd: ether:
winterville# mount -a /srv/usb /n/usb
winterville# lc /n/usb
usbdctl
winterville# ps -a | grep usb
bootes 99 0:00 0:00 400K Sleep usbd
bootes 101 0:00 0:00 400K Pread usbd

bootes 110 0:00 0:00 156K Pread grep usb
winterville# ps -a | grep ether
bootes 12 0:00 0:00 0K Wakeme cec:#l0/ether0
bootes 15 0:00 0:00 0K Wakeme etherread4
bootes 17 0:00 0:00 0K Wakeme etherread6
bootes 112 0:00 0:00 156K Pread grep ether

new data: the old usb serial seems to work with the old
usb/serial:
winterville# usb/serial
usb/serial: no unhandled devices found
winterville# /n/dump/2010/0725/386/bin/usb/serial
/n/dump/2010/0725/386/bin/usb/serial: startdevs: opening #0 /dev/usb/ep5.0
