The presenter mentions that, using the microsoft industrial control stuff, with its reams of documentation, was actually harder than just writing code in Plan 9. Some sort of threshold gets crossed on these systems, where reading a little bit of C is easier than reading a giant pile of semi-accurate documentation. So there are companies starting to see that working with a compact, well-written system, where you have source; can be easier than working with a gargantuan system which is a large set of binary blobs, constantly changing in ways that make it hard to understand. Maybe that's where you want to look.
