There are a few binary executables included in the loaded kernel, necessary during booting. A copy of aux/kbdfs may well be one of those. You'll be able to determine that for certain by looking at the configuration file that describes how the kernel is constructed (/sys/src/9/pc/pc would be an obvious example, there are quite a few to choose from).
