In case it was missed, I will point out that a byproduct of the recent
Brad and Russ collaboration on April Fools (but also very real) prank,
is the ability to clone 9legacy and run it in qemu, in two steps.

Assuming you're on a Linux or macOS console shell session:

git clone https://github.com/rsc/plan9
./plan9/boot/qemu

At this point you will select the screen resolution and the kernel you
want to run (386/9pc, or am64/9k10) and you're in.

The file server is u9fs serving the local (host) files. This makes it
easy to use host tools that can target Plan 9; for example cross
compiling Go programs.
